In 2012, Pastor David Elwin was invited to minister in the HMP Wormwood Scrubs in a volunteer capacity. He ministered to men on the drug wing as a volunteer chaplain for several months, before being asked to join the Chaplaincy as a permanent member of staff as one of the community ch aplains. The role of the prison chaplaincy is to provide practical and emotional support by promoting healing, forgiveness, personal growth and development to prisoners before and after their release from prison. Pastor David’s role also encompasses the recruiting and training of volunteers from the community to mentor prisoners at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. Pastor David also receives invitations to minister at other prisons or prison-related events.

To God’s glory, many men have given their lives to the Lord and allowed Him to give them a brand new start. Victory Outreach West London seeks to support and embrace prisoners, ex-offenders and their families through prayer, discipleship, drugs and family counselling and welcoming them into the life of the church.

We believe through Christ that each man or woman coming from a prison background can find a sense of dignity and belonging, and fulfil their God-given destiny.

If you’re interested in becoming a prison mentor, or supporting the prison ministry through prayer please contact Pastor David.
